Here are a few tips help you to enhance & improve your English Skills, no matter how much or how little English you already know:
1) Define your goal:
Learning a language will be easier and more fun if you have motivation to learn.
For Example: Learning English to find a new job, to travel, or simply because it’s a challenge!
Whatever is your motivation, you need to be sure not to lose it
2) More Practice:
You should attend a class, do the homework and study as much as you can. Courses are good because they push you to practice the skills you are learning.
You can also improve your English skills by watching videos, learning and practicing vocabulary, and taking comprehension quizzes
3) LEARN THE COMMUNICATION SKILLS FIRST
Find language partners to communicate with, it will be much easier for you to communicate with others and get your point across.
You can always use your classmates or find English learners on social sites, use the Internet to find other speakers and learners
4) Don’t translate everything
The word-for-word translation is not a useful method of learning. If you literally translate every single word of a sentence, it will probably sound terrible to a native speaker.
On the other hand, it will probably waste your time and confuse you. Avoid this temptation
5) IMPROVE YOUR PRONUNCIATION FROM THE BEGINNING
Focus on pronunciation starting at the early stages, since these problems are much more difficult to correct later on.
If you correct errors at the beginning, it’s much less likely that they’ll last forever. Identify common pronunciation symbols; keep hearing and correcting pronunciation while you’re learning
6) Read Texts Out Loud
Reading fluency is simply the ability to read a book or text clearly. You correct your pronunciation mistakes until you make no errors.
The more you practice fluency, the more confidence you will have because it gives you a safe environment to practice in, increase your reading speed, and to process words faster.
If you are nervous about speaking in front of others, start reading aloud by yourself at home. As you feel more confident, ask a teacher or a native English speaker to give you feedback on more advanced vocabulary.
7)Make Friends with English Speaking Expats
The more you practice, the more you will gain confidence in your English speaking abilities. An excellent way to practice English (and enjoy it!) is to make friends with people who only speak English.
You are then forced to speak with them in English, instead of relying on your native language. Friends are not there to judge you and your English skills. All they want is to meet new people in the local area.
8)Work in Groups of Five or Smaller
Many people get very nervous if they have to speak in front of large audiences. Try speaking English to others in smaller groups to build up your confidence.
Share mistakes or stories of miscommunication with each other. The more you laugh off how funny these types of mistakes these are, the less you’ll feel scared.
9)Remember Why You Want to Learn English
It is natural to feel frustrated if you are not confident that you are progressing. Whenever you feel this way, it is important to remind yourself of why you started learning English.
However, don’t rely on an external goal to motivate yourself. Rather, you need to find out why you want to learn English for yourself.
For example, you want to improve your English because of your career. So you can get that promotion you’ve always wanted. You want that promotion so you can get a larger salary and be able to afford your child’s university tuition…
What’s your motivation for learning English?
